Easiest way is to re-enter your phone # on the signup page :) and if you were already activated before, let me know your account ID or phone # and I'll reset your activation.
-
Ah, I need to reset it for you (it's locked to your previous phone still). We had a control on the profile page where you could do this yourself, but it was lost in a design update -- it's returning soon (along with the ability to add multiple phones to your account, which we can already do for you, but it's manual).
Done -- try again now (same code).

The good news is that it's easy to avoid: disable dual mode in the phone's network setting.
When using Qik (and probably other apps) in certain areas with iffy 3G coverage (US models only, afaik)
set phone to GSM-only, stream over WiFi -- works fine for hours
- set phone to Dual mode, stream over WiFi -- phone crashes (I can crash it in less than a minute in a certain location, every time).
set phone to UMTS-only, stream over WiFi or 3G -- works fine for hours.
The phone just can't switch between modes when it's busy doing networking and/or pulling video -- it crashes the camera, reliably, every time.
This has been an almost impossible thing to isolate, and it turns out it's such a simple thing. Wow, I am so incredibly relieved. I think I need a drink :)

Plain text json format video embed (the default)
XML format user embed
Pure json format video embed
You can also send "format=xml" to specify format, but I find it more straightforward to just request the document type directly (/oembed.xml, etc).

@afr: if you're logged in, that first stopping point allows you to edit the video (title and privacy settings). Will revise it soon so that it only does that stop if you're logged in.
-
Something else: embedded in the newly-enhanced RSS feeds for each user on Qik, you can download full, high-quality versions of the stream in the original resolution. Want to stream over wifi at full 640*480 resolution, running at 30 fps? Great -- now you can download the 3gp file and do whatever you'd like with it.

@afr yeah we modified that; videos with no title don't go at all, and there's a checkbox to send all or none. There was also a bug that was causing some videos to go a bunch of times -- spam spam spam :) oops.

I'm fascinated by the completely opposite opinions on Last.fm feeds :)
I'm generally of the same mind as @rcadden -- cross-posting from similar services just feels like second-hand content to me for some reason. The participatory aspect is big as well -- we learned that with our Seesmic integration, where people just expect to be able to reply (and be heard) -- otherwise it's noise.

Let me warn you again about that scroll wheel: addictive. I mean like chocolate, good wine (or a nice after-dinner tawny), pizza and peanut-butter (not at the same time). I'm spoiled forever for anything else. Especially on the Mac (I don't know why, but their Windows driver didn't do quite the same extra-fine smooth scrolling as the Mac version last time I tried it).

Wow, Jaiku is fun to explore. Lots of trails to follow.
Okay, here's an open invitation: Qik invitations are available for anyone on Jaiku who would like one -- just message me. You do need a supported phone, though. Just sign up and let me know what # you used and I'll get it approved.

Late for this discussion, but I'll second @afr's Logitech VX nod. I have the VX Revolution and the VX Nano. The Nano wins for portability, but the Revolution (larger but still very portable) fits my hand better for day to day use. The weighty, smooth-scrolling metal scroll wheel on all of these Logitechs is simply addictive; I have a hard time using anything else now. For laptop use at work, I keep a Logitech laptop stand with built-in powered hub (so that the external mouse/kb can just stay plugged in there). You're kinda required to do something like that with the Air, though -- 1 port doesn't go far otherwise :)
